January 2013′s Best Sellers
We’ve aggregated all of the data from our various selling platforms including: TeesBox, Nerd T-Shirts UK, Offensive T-Shirts UK, Funny T-Shirts For Men, Amazon.co.uk and Play.com and here we have for you our definitive list of January 2013′s top 10 best sellers.
Now, what was hot last month isn’t necessarily hot right now, but if you like to try and keep up with the trends then this is the list for you. If you already own one or more of these, well then you can officially consider yourself a trend setter! Go ahead and brag in the comments section below.
Without further ado, the much awaited top 10 is:
10 – May The Mass x Acceleration Be With You
A twist on the classic Star Wars mantra “May the Force Be With You”, this geeky t-shirt has been very popular in recent months. With the news of Disney’s purchase of Lucas Film and the subsequent announcements regarding Star Wars: Episode VII, the popular sci-fi franchise has been very much in the news lately, and this has reflected in the popularity of related merchandise across our stores.
9 – I Want To Believe
Unlike with the Star Wars t-shirt above, there’s been little in the way of X-Files related activity in the news to account for the large amount of sales this t-shirt has received lately. Perhaps it’s a case for Mulder and Scully, or – more likely – a sign that the hit 90′s TV show is still very popular.
8 – Have You Tried Turning It Off And On Again?
It’s pretty much the go to move when it comes to fixing anything electrical. If that doesn’t work then it probably requires a little more thought. The phrase grained great popularity on the back of Channel 4′s hit TV show “The IT Crowd”, in which it was a phrase often uttered by Roy & Moss of Reynholm Industries’ IT department whenever anyone had the audacity to call up with a computer related problem.
7 – I Came On Eileen
Surprisingly this was the only t-shirt in our top 10 (which accounted for a whopping 39% of all January’s sales) which wasn’t of a geek/nerd variety. No mean feat. Who are we to argue with Dexys Midnight Runners? There aren’t many Eileen’s around these days (we’re hoping to sell enough t-shirts to give it a bit of a renaissance – fingers crossed) but there sure are a lot of people ready to come on her. Let’s hope she’s game.
6 – Space Invader
Not just a classic game, it’s well on it’s way to becoming a classic t-shirt too. If we had a pound for every one of these we’ve sold, well, we’d make a significant loss and probably be on the verge of going bust like HMV and pals, but you get the idea! There aren’t many 1970′s products that are still fashionable Today (no matter how certain you are that pale blue polyester suit is going to come back in style), but the Space Invader stands the test of time.
5 – Stormtrooper Skull and Crossbones
Surprise, surprise, there’s another Star Wars t-shirt in the top 10. This time it’s one of those loveable Stormtrooper’s in the form of a skull and cross bones. It’s a very iconic design, and it’s no surprise to see it amass so many sales in it’s short amount of time since it’s conception last November.
4 – Trust Me I’m An Engineer
If the popularity of this t-shirt is anything to go by, we clearly have a lot of fans in the engineering industry. In that case, I think it’s best we try to keep this short and sweet so not to offensd anyone and simply say: We salute you our trustworthy engineer friends.
3 – The Bronze, Sunnydale
Buffy had many obvious talents, but we didn’t think longevity was one of them. Slayer’s on the show had a very short shelf-life, with even Buffy herself dying twice (spoiler alert), though her legacy lives on with this much sought after t-shirt! The Bronze was the hottest (only?) club in Sunnydale, California, and was frequented by Buffy and her entourage throughout the show. It seems many fans have been living the dream of going to The Bronze vicariously over the years and now find themselves wanting the commemorative t-shirt to go with it.
2 – I Drive at 88mph… Just In Case
If you read our recent blog post entitled “Our Top 10 Movie Related Tees” then you won’t be surprised to see this t-shirt in our top 10 sellers for January. The only real surprise is to see it’s been usurped from the top spot by a surprise contender! Never the less it’s still going strong to say the movie franchise started over 25 years ago.
1 – The Knights Who Say Ni
What do you mean you already looked at the picture above?! Well then you won’t be surprised to see the Monty Python classic take the prize of January’s top seller. It’s success was so prominent we felt compelled to release two more Monty Python tees post hast. The masses have spoken: Death Awaits You All With Nasty, Big, Pointy Teeth – Monty Python – Geeky T-Shirt & Dead Parrot – This Parrot Is No More – Monty Python – Geeky T-Shirt.
What will February bring? Who knows, it’s not too late to have your say. Get buying now!
